With the law that went into force July 20, 2016, Russia has effectively banned evangelism outside of a formal church setting. Despite this new law, the church in Russia is proving faithful to the Great Commission. A timely opportunity now exists to speed the gospel into Russia by equipping the churches’ established distribution network with Russian-language New Testaments and Scripture-based, evangelism literature.
Ready Distribution Network Since 2010, the ministry that founded GBI has been helping to equip the local Russian church by casting the vision for evangelism and facilitating the distribution of gospel tracts and other outreach materials. To date, they have printed and distributed about 4.8 million pieces of literature in Russia via the local church network that currently consists of 160 locations. In the last 2 years, about 2 million pieces of literature has been distributed. In the next 2 years (2018-2019), they plan to double the amount of literature to 4 million pieces. They expect that by the year 2020, the church distribution network will rapidly expand to include more than 300 locations.
Great Need for Evangelism Materials The Russian church has responded without hesitation to the vision and is on fire for the mission set before them. For its part, GBI is positioned to spearhead an enlarged distribution effort, manage local logistics including printing, monitor developments and report back how donations are being used to make an impact for the Kingdom.
Call to Action GBI is requesting donor partners to join forces with this mission to reach Russia with the Good News while the door of opportunity is open. A Russian New Testament can be locally printed for about $0.65. In the next 12 months, GBI would like to print and distribute 2 million New Testaments. GBI is also looking to partner with donor agencies that might supply scripture-based Russian evangelism materials. GBI will provide donors with regular reports. Donors are also invited to visit Russia and see first-hand how their donations are being used to build the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
